Avast SC Aquatic Herbicide is a selective, systemic liquid herbicide designed for aquatic environments, with 41.7% fluridone as its active ingredient. It offers varying degrees of control depending on the dosage; at lower rates, it selectively targets milfoil, while higher rates provide broader aquatic plant control, potentially lasting up to two years. Effectiveness is influenced by factors such as dosage, timing, growth stage, application method, and water movement. Avast SC works by inhibiting chlorophyll synthesis, leading to plant degradation, with herbicidal symptoms appearing within 7-10 days and full control achievable in 30-90 days under optimal conditions. It effectively controls a range of aquatic plants including Bladderwort, Coontail, Duckweed, Hydrilla, and Water Lily, but it's important to note that it does not affect algae.
