Philodendron hederaceum var. oxycardium 'Brasil' Medium | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Not pet-safe
Summary: The medium Philodendron 'Brasil' (P12, H15 cm) brings tropical charm with its glowing lime and golden variegation. Compact yet lush, it’s the perfect centerpiece for German apartments and European homes wanting easy-care colour.
✨ Why You'll Love the Philodendron 'Brasil' Medium
- Vibrant variegation in lime-green and golden yellow streaks
- Medium size (P12, H15 cm) makes it a versatile plant for tables, shelves, or window sills
- Hardy and low-maintenance—thrives even with beginner care
- Air-purifying qualities that improve indoor atmosphere
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation. Tolerates lower light, though leaves may turn more green. Perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, or offices in European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry before watering. The P12 size retains more moisture than the baby version, so water moderately. Adapts to normal household humidity but appreciates misting during dry winters.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a light, well-draining potting mix enriched with perlite or bark. Repot every 1–2 years in spring as it grows into a fuller, trailing vine.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe. Keep out of reach of cats, dogs, and children, as ingestion may irritate the mouth and stomach.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
From this medium stage, your 'Brasil' will soon develop trailing or climbing vines. Propagate easily from stem cuttings in water or soil to create new plants or share with friends.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Fertilize monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid feed. In winter, reduce feeding and watering as growth slows down.
🐛 Common Issues
- Variegation fading: Increase light levels to restore vibrant contrast.
- Yellowing leaves: Often a sign of overwatering—let soil dry slightly.
- Brown tips: Caused by dry air or underwatering.
🧬 Botanical Background
The 'Brasil' is a cultivar of the heartleaf Philodendron, Philodendron hederaceum var. oxycardium, native to tropical regions of Central and South America. Its dramatic golden-yellow and lime striping was inspired by the Brazilian flag, making it a popular choice for modern European interiors.
