One of the first plants to bloom in early spring, this woodland ephemeral naturalizes gracefully in shade gardens, woodland borders, and native plant landscapes. Erythronium americanum thrives in partial to full shade with moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Perfect for pollinator gardens, it attracts early-season bees while remaining deer resistant and low maintenance. Cold-hardy and ideal for naturalized plantings, trout lily creates a stunning carpet of spring color beneath trees and shrubs.

Andrena miner bees, native pollinators, need trout lilies and others in the genus Erythronium to do their job of pollinating native woodland bulbs and other flowering plants.
