These Alocasia Macrorrhizos (Giant Taro) plants are from the end of the current batch and are slightly smaller than standard stock, with fewer mature leaves as they continue to establish. Some may show minor yellowing or cosmetic leaf marks typical of seasonal growth or transport stress, but each plant has a healthy, solid corm and is actively producing new growth.
They will quickly bounce back with warmth and moisture, developing the large, glossy tropical leaves the species is known for as the growing season progresses. A great value option for those happy to nurture a younger plant to maturity.
Alocasia Macrorrhizos (Giant Taro) is a dramatic tropical plant known for its enormous, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that can grow up to 1 metre long. This evergreen perennial adds a lush, exotic feel to gardens and landscapes. Its robust, upright growth habit makes it a stunning focal point in tropical or subtropical settings. The plant can grow to an impressive height of 3–4 metres under ideal conditions, creating a canopy-like effect.
Thriving in warm, humid environments, Giant Taro prefers rich, well-drained soil and benefits from regular watering to maintain its lush appearance. It performs best in partial shade but can tolerate full sun with sufficient moisture. This low-maintenance plant is excellent for large gardens, water feature edges, or as a container plant in cooler climates where it can be overwintered indoors.
