Ground Breaker Seed Cover Plate – Precision Planting Made Simple
Fine-tune your Ground Breaker drop seeder like never before with the Seed Cover Plate. This 3-foot metal plate drops directly into the seed hopper, blocking off 50% of the seeding elements for greater control over seed output and spacing — no tools, bolts, or complicated installs required. Just drop it in when you need it, lift it out when you’re done.
Why would you want this? Here are two perfect examples:
1. Planting low-volume small seeds – Trying to plant tiny seeds like turnips at low rates (e.g., 10 lbs/acre) can be tricky with the Ground Breaker. By blocking off half the seeding elements, you cut your output in half, giving you more room to adjust your variable clutch upward to hit your exact target rate. No more “bottoming out” the calibration and still putting out too much seed.
2. Wider spacing for larger seeds – Planting bigger seeds like corn or soybeans? Wider spacing means healthier plants. By covering half the seeding elements, you increase the distance between dropped seeds, letting each plant develop with the room it needs.
For longer machines, simply use multiple plates:
-
Ground Breaker 3 (3 ft) → Use 1 plate
-
Ground Breaker 6 (6 ft) → Use 2 plates
-
Ground Breaker 9 (9 ft) → Use 3 plates
Whether you’re aiming for precision seeding rates or better plant spacing, the Ground Breaker Seed Cover Plate is the quick, easy, no-tool solution to get your results dialed in.
