Overview
Echeveria 'Ice Green' is an alluring assembly of both aesthetic charm and hardiness, a spectacular addition for any succulent aficionado. Its captivating winter hues and bi-colored blooms mark it as a remarkable standout, equally fitting for indoor displays or outdoor gardens.
Description
Echeveria 'Ice Green' originates from Korea and embodies the most desirable features of its speculated parent plants, E. laui and E. albicans. One of its standout features is its chameleon-like foliage. With exposure to strong sunlight and cooler temperatures, the leaves can morph into shades of pink and even orange-red. A frosty layer of farina further magnifies its mystic appearance. While this succulent can be comfortably housed in a 5 cm pot, proper care—including nutrient management—can significantly impact its size and coloration.Scientific Classification
- Family: Crassulaceae
- Subfamily: Sedoideae
- Tribe: Sedeae
- Subtribe: Sedinae
- Genus: Echeveria
Origins
Echeveria 'Ice Green' is a recent introduction from Korea and is possibly a hybrid between E. laui and E. albicans. Its unique attributes, such as its chubby, obovate leaves and captivating color shifts, make it a standout selection within the Echeveria genus.
Care Notes
Soil and Pot: For thriving growth, this succulent prefers a porous, well-draining soil mix. A blend of potting soil, perlite, and grit provides the ideal conditions for robust development. Opt for pots with good drainage holes to prevent waterlogging and root rot.Watering: Echeveria 'Ice Green' abides by the "soak and dry" watering principle. Thoroughly drench the soil when it becomes completely dry and avoid letting the plant sit in water. Over-watering can lead to rot, the most perilous situation for any succulent.
