Hypoestes Phyllostachya, commonly known as the Polka Dot Plant, is one of the most playful and eye-catching colourful terrarium plants you can grow in a closed terrarium. Its bold, spotted leaves come in a choice of stunning colours; red, white, or pink. Each one splashed with contrasting green spots that create a living confetti effect in any planted setup. Native to Madagascar, this compact terrarium plant thrives in the warm, humid conditions of a closed terrarium, where its love of humidity and indirect light allows it to flourish with remarkable ease.
A Burst of Colour in a Closed Terrarium
Polka Dot Plant terrarium setups are where this plant truly shines. It loves the consistent warmth and high humidity that enclosed setups provide, and grows beautifully in indirect light making it one of the most rewarding colourful terrarium plants available. Its compact size makes it an ideal accent plant, and with three colour varieties to choose from, red, white, and pink, you can mix and match to create a truly unique terrarium display. Keep the substrate lightly moist and watch those vivid spotted leaves bring your terrarium to life.
A Vibrant Houseplant Too
Outside of a terrarium, Hypoestes Phyllostachya makes a wonderfully vibrant low maintenance houseplant for shelves, desks, and windowsills. It thrives in bright indirect light and appreciates regular misting to maintain humidity. Water moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings, and pinch back the tips regularly to keep it bushy and compact.
A Gift That Pops
For terrarium enthusiasts and plant lovers alike, the Polka Dot Plant is a gift that instantly brings a smile. Available in few colours, it is one of those rare plants where the buyer gets to choose their favourite colour, making it a truly personalised and memorable gift for birthdays, housewarmings, or any occasion worth celebrating.
