Aglaonema pictum 'Tricolor', commonly known as the Camouflage Plant, is a distinctive variety of the Aglaonema species, celebrated for its unique leaf coloration and patterns.
Key Characteristics:
-
Foliage: The leaves are oval-shaped with a striking camouflage pattern, featuring a mix of dark green, light green, and white hues. This variegation gives each leaf a unique appearance, adding visual interest to any space.
-
Growth Habit: Typically, this plant reaches a height of 1 to 2 feet, making it suitable for both tabletop displays and floor arrangements. It maintains a compact and bushy form, enhancing its ornamental value.
Care Requirements:
-
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, optimal growth and leaf coloration are achieved with ample indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight may scorch the leaves, so it's best to place the plant in a location with filtered light.
-
Soil: Prefers well-draining, fertile soil. A mix designed for houseplants or one amended with perlite works well.
-
Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's better to err on the side of underwatering.
-
Temperature and Humidity: Prefers temperatures between 65°F (18°C) and 85°F (29°C) and high humidity. Regular misting or placing the pot on a humidity tray can help maintain adequate moisture levels.
